As an entrepreneur and design expert for over 40 years, Sotiris Kotopoulos has always had an acute eye for detail. This characteristic became his tool for success when he discovered that too many first time owners, as well as families with post-construction homes, felt overwhelmed in the design process of their homes.
After thorough research, Sotiris found that there was a substantial gap in the market for affordable original art for middle-class American families and immediately responded to this need by offering his advice and services. Within one year alone he visited dozens of homes on the east coast and had a success rate of 92%! In 2004 he launched Anko-Art LLC.
While Sotiri passed away in 2022, his wife, Xanthie and family continue the family business and travel around the country working one-on-one with clients to create beautiful design spaces, come up with affordable solutions and provide the highest value of art for all client’s needs.
At Anko-Art, we believe in that every corporation should be held accountable for doing business with compassion, principle, and awareness to the positive impact they can have on the world.
Responsible Forestry:
In our effort to make a positive impact, Anko-Art began to give preferential treatment to certified products and shifted procurement of wood from questionable sources to companies that practice responsible forestry. The wood that Anko-Art purchases is FSC Certified (Forest Stewardship Council), which means that the forest products used are from responsibly harvested and verified sources, or is manufactured at a sustainable farm.
Community-Based Initiatives:
In 2011, Anko-Art joined the Susan G. Komen for the Cure initiative by donating gift certificates and books to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of the North NJ Chapter. By donating over $1,000 in products, Anko-Art helped sponsor the initiative to provide free mammograms to people who can't afford them, breast health education, and emergency financial aid to people who are unable to pay for their care.
In 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, Anko-Art donated paintings for fundraisers supporting the mission of the National Kidney Foundation. The funds raised from this donation helped increase awareness about chronic kidney disease, allowed for preventative education and screenings for those at risk, and allowed for funding to support treatment options for kidney disease.
Carbon Footprints:
Anko-Art has switched to Energy Star Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs instead of Incandescent bulbs. CFL's consumer up to 75% less energy and they last up to 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs. In the next 8 months, Anko-Art plans on reducing it's carbon footprint by 30% by using more fuel efficient shipping methods, turning off equipment when it's not being used, finding a supply of paper with maximum available recycled content, and instigating an ongoing search for "greener" products and services in the local community.
